House of Nepenthe Is Now Available for Kindle Preorder
House of Nepenthe by Daniel Verastiqui is now available for Kindle preorder. The eighth entry in the Vinestead Anthology releases June 2, 2026.
After several years of writing, revising, and slowly shaping the story into something that resembles a finished novel, House of Nepenthe is now officially available for Kindle preorder.
The book will release on June 2, 2026, but readers who preorder will have it automatically delivered to their Kindle on release day.
For those new to the story, House of Nepenthe follows Vinestead engineer Ken Barnes after a shooting in Austin’s Old Downtown leaves him in a coma. Instead of darkness, he wakes inside the House of Nepenthe—a virtual construct built from his own memories and designed to help the dying reconnect with the world outside.
But something inside the House isn’t working the way it should.
The connection to the outside world is unstable. His personal assistant seems to be hiding something. And the system keeps surfacing memories Ken spent years trying to bury.
If you’ve been following along as I’ve worked on this book over the past few years, thank you. Getting it to this point has been a long road, and I’m excited to be one step closer to you reading about Ken, Lee, Patrick, and Raylene.
